Kikuube district located in the mid western Uganda’s council has approved a 31.2 billion shillings budget for the financial year 2024/2025
The budget was presented by the District Secretary for Finance who doubles as female councilor for Kiziranfumbi town council Hon Zuliah Nyakahara during the council meeting chaired by the Hon.Speaker Chris Nkalu at the new Kikuube district headquarters in Kisambo
Nyakahara says that the budget has been increased from 29.6 billion shillings due to increased wage bills as a result of wage enhancement for health workers and scientists.
According to Nyakahara, the funds will be raised from local revenue collection- Sh. 1.5 billion, 27.9 billion shillings from central government transfers and donor funding 1.7 billion shillings.
She noted that the education sector will take the lion’s share followed by health, Works and administration.
Nestori Tumwesigye, the councilor representing Kyangwali sub county has explained that there is a need to expand the revenue sources to fund the budget because the current collection of 1.5 billion is still low.
Peter Banura, the district chairperson, has called upon the implementers not to divert fund inorder to achieve the budget goals.
The same council also approved Nominees for the Kyangwali HCIV HUMC Members and the Nominees of Bugambe SS Board of Governors.
