The District Roads Committee Meeting which sat today Monday the 23rd of September 2024 elected the Hon.Woman Member of Parliament for Kikuube District, Florah Natumanya as its new district roads Committee Chairperson for FY 2024/2025 replacing the District Governor Hon Peter Banuura whose term of office came to an end.
The 7 Member Committee is made up of District Legislators, The District Governor, CAO, District Engineer and the Secretary for Works though the Committee co-opts other Member like the Presidents representative -The RDC, The Chairperson Works Committee and the Communication Officer for effective service delivery.
The Roads Committee is established under Section 25 (2) of the Uganda Road Fund Act 2008, whose major role is to provide oversight over the road fund allocated to local Governments to undertake routine and Periodic road maintenance.
After being elected as the Committee Chairperson the Hon Mp Florah Natumanya appreciated his fellow Committee members for entrusting her with the new role.
she however Promised to lobby and also work tirelessly to ensure all District roads are Safe for travel, Well Maintained and are in an accessible condition for all.
The Outgoing Committee Chairperson -Hon Peter Banura as he handed over Office to the new Chairperson, expressed his gratitude for the Opportunity he was given to serve wereby the District managed to recieve road equipments under his reign which has been a big blessing to the district.
The District Chief Administration Officer Can. Edward Musingye appreciated the entire Committee for the cooperation and goodwork exhibited in the last FY.
He further appreciated the Outgoing Committee Chairperson for steering and also maintaining the team despite there soo much busy schedules .
The Resident District Commissioner, Amlan Tumusiime congratulated the new Chairperson upon the new role assigned to her, he however promised to work hand in hand with the entire team.
The Meeting was also attended by one of the district Partner and great Investor -Hoima Sugar Campany limited’s Manager who promised to continously Support the Districts road Infrastructure
