Mission
To promote and ensure the rational and sustainable utilization, development and effective management of water and environment resources for socio-economic development of Kikuube District
Mandate
The Mandate of the District Water Sector is derived from the Constitution and the Local Government Act and includes initiating legislation, policy formulation, setting standards, inspections, monitoring, and coordination and back up technical support in relation to water and environment sub sectors.
Theme (FY 2019/2020)
Safe Water and proper sanitation for all leaving no one behind.
As a sector we ensure equitable distribution of safe water sources with an aim to improve on the safe water coverage of the whole district at large.
Since the conception of the District, we have worked on various water sources ranging from;
- Protection of springs
- Rehabilitation of Boreholes
- Surveying, siting and drilling of new boreholes
- Construction of a mini-piped water system
The Kikuube District Water Sector heads the WASH Technical working group in the district which is comprised of the District Water Office alongside Developing partners. It is headed by the District Water Officer being the Focal chairman of the committee. Some of the WASH partners within the District include;
- World Vision Uganda
- OXFAM
- United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
- International Aid Services
- Lutheran World Foundation
- Action Against Hunger
In the Financial Year 2019/2020, the water sector was able to execute all its planned activities which included;
- Protection of 6 springs
- Rehabilitation of 9 Boreholes
- Surveying, siting and drilling of new 7 boreholes
- Construction of a mini-piped water system at Kyarushesha Rural Growth Center last phase.
