Kikuube district leaders appreciate the Oil and Gas developments in bunyoro region.

kikuube District Stakeholders on the 1st of July 2024 set out for a 2day learning visit to the Oil and Gas Project areas in kikuube ,Hoima and Buliisa in the bunyoro region.
The team consisted of District leaders, Technocrats and Security team making up the districts top leadership team.
The main objective of the learning visit was for the districts top leaders to have a feel and appreciate the Oil and Gas developments so far.
To also know the status and whatever is taking place in these oil fields and To also keep updated with first hand information.
The team  happened to visit the Kingfisher Oil Field in buhuka, Kikuube district, The Tilenga Project in Buliisa, the EACOP and the Kabalega Industrial Park in Hoima District.
The Kingfisher Oil development area in buhuka is being operated by a Chinese Company known as CNOOC,While the Tilenga Project is being operated by a France Company known as Total Energies and SBC for the Kabalega Industrial Park.
The oil and Gas operations go through 3 stages which include the Upstream, Mid stream and Down stream.Currently in Uganda the Oil and Gas developments are at the first phase which is know as the Upstream phase for both projects.In this phase,we have so far had drilling of the Oil and construction of Infrastructure to support the drilling activities infrastructure like roads, permanent camp aGate check point station and some roads
The other stages include the Mid stream were we there is Oil Processing, Storing and transportation .
And lastly Down Stream were there is assembling, packaging, distribution and marketing of the finished Oil Product.
The Kingfisher Project is expected to produce 40,000 barrels of Oil each day and the Tilenga Project is expected to produce 190,000 barrels of Oil.
The Tilenga project is meant to drill 29 Well Pads and the Kingfisher Project is meant to drill 4 Well Pads but have so far drilled 3
The East African Crude oil Pipeline is supposed to be the longest heated pipeline which will be 1443km.
The Pipeline will transverse 10 Uganda districts which include Hoima, Kikuube,  Kakumiro, Kyankwanzi, Gomba, Mubende, Lwengo, Sembabule. Kyotera and Rakai.Works for its construction have began with above ground installations of MCPYs and Pump stations and Insulation works for the line pipes.
The District Governor Hon. Peter Banura who appreciated the oil and Gas developments also commended the oil and Gas Companies for continuously engaging the district and updating leaders on the progress of these projects which has enabled the two entities to move at the same page.
The Governor also called upon Investors to take part in getting land in the Industrial Park and to put up serious businesses in-order to  boost trade in the park and region at large.
The District Speaker Hon Christopher Nkalu appreciated Government for coming up to support the Oil and Gas sector.The  Speaker also appreciated  Government for constructing the Kabalega International Airport which is going to promote tourism and trade in bunyoro in way that tourists will be flying in the Country through the Airport
The Speaker also called upon farmers to adopt modern Farming methods to enable them produce quality  standard food products which they will be able to supply to the Oil companies and the outside market too.
“prepare your selves enough to enable you tap into the Oil opportunities,” said Nkalu.
The Speaker encouraged Kikuube residents to register with the national Suppliers data base since its a request to get a contract or tender in these companies.
The Oil companies- Total Energies, CNOOC and EACOP are so committed and moving on very well.
The companies are using the best technology and expertise and have also largely invested in the projects. So Ugandans should expect the first Oil drop in 2025 as promised.
